Many philosophical works have referred to death as sleep. Now I wonder... may be the day and night is a scaled down model of life and death. Physically one is awake in the day and asleep at night. And spiritually, you are manifested in life and dormant in death. Death is just a resting phase for the weary soul.. until it can wake up again.
Its almost as if the clue to decode the mystery of life is right here where we can see it.
Then again, day is when the body works and retires at night. The soul sleeps in the day (for most of us) and wakes up at night. We can catch a glimpse of this soul in that semi-conscious state of half asleep and half awake.

  1. Questions that are yet to be answered beyond doubt

1-will we awake in death, after death?
2-soul does it exist or is it a metaphor or a euphemism?
3- Why cannot night be related to life and day to death- with reference to many animals and birds that are nocturnal?
4- Perhaps sleep is life to many and otherwise.

Well a lot is still behind the moon and do not know if we can ever know.

  2. I normally think this way; that sleep is the rehearsal.
We are just getting prepared for the blissful sleep called death.
Isn’t it the prospect of death that gives life the beauty,
the mystical aura…ye seem to be too philosophical
    these days. All is well?

  3. This is very deeply philosophical. I never thought about it this way. I always wonder if I missed something while I was sleeping.

  6. The idea of having a soul never appealed to my questioning mind. I think we want to believe in soul because we are afraid of the fickle nature of life. We want to believe that our life is not short and ends right when we die. All those philosophers never talk about the souls of animals, you know. Personally, I think the concept of soul is bullshit.

Think of sleep as a purely physical function.

Man always thought too much - of himself!
